Like teens who often struggle with handling all the new potentials that are emerging, clown evolution is still struggling with all the great potentials that are emerging.
Micko points out that we often do wonderful things to share our Love, such as risking our lives to save other clowns, creating organizations to help others, and, of course, inventing ice cream.
But we also sometimes engage in behaviors that are harmful to ourselves, others, or Clown Nation as a whole.
Micko believes that we need to take charge of our thoughts and actions to minimize hurtfulness and maximize our Love Flow in our world.
For Micko, Love Flow happens every time a clown feels empathy for other clowns or animals, cares about other clowns or animals, feels positive connections with other clowns, animals, or the world, or feels compassion for other clowns or animals and tries to help them.

As all parents know, young clown brains soak up information like sponges.
What some parents may not know is this “implicit” learning process starts while a young clown is still in the womb and continues in the first years of life, before language and self-awareness develops.

That is why role modeling is so important for helping very young clowns understand the Flow of Love.
Does the young clown see the parent be impatient waiting in line at the store watching the clown in front of them dig in pockets for loose change, or does the young clown see the parent stay calm, take deep breaths and say Loving Kindness things about the rude clown digging for loose change?
Does the young clown see the parent yell and scream at the clown on the phone who is telling the parent that their order of fake vomit is out of stock, or does the young clown see the parent stay calm, do a gratitude routine and say Loving-kindness things about the clown on the phone?

Young animals learn things about life in the same way young clowns learn about life: by watching their parents. For instance, young chimpanzees learn how to peel and eat bananas by watching parents.
But clown parents teach our young in ways that other animals don’t.

For instance, clown parents and teachers demonstrate to very young clowns how to throw pies, monitoring and correcting and giving encouragement as needed.

According to FlowingLove (Daniel Siegel) Mindsight is a way we can understand what is going on in our inner mind and the inner minds of other clowns- thoughts, feelings, perceptions, sensations, memories, and hopes and dreams.
Lovesight is a special type of Mindsight. Mindsight allows us to understand the inner workings of our minds and the minds of other clowns, things like thoughts, feelings, perceptions, sensations, memories, and hopes and dreams.
Lovesight allows us to see the Flow of Love within ourselves, within other clowns, and between us and other clowns, things like caring, empathy, sharing, compassion with the desire to help or fix others’ situations, and forming a connection with other clowns or animals.

This difference between animal learning and clown learning has been called “cumulative learning” in the context of generation-to-generation learning.
What animals learn doesn’t change much over the course of generations, but what clowns learn continues to expand and build on past learnings.
One important thing that other species have not developed is the creation of institutions of higher learning, such as Clown Colleges.
This has resulted in a much faster pace of clown evolution. First, we invented the wheel, then just like that we created cars, airplanes, and spaceships, and put the first clown on the moon!
Micko thinks the same sort of rapid change will happen as The Flow of Love spreads across our beautiful planet!

Gradually…all of these different “little” things will accumulate and compound (as LoveBlossoms (Barbara Fredrickson) says, resulting in an ever-increasing number of micro-moments of connection and Love across the planet.
This may even lead to what LoveBlossoms calls mass positivity resonance, like when sports fans in a stadium, watching the World Pie Throwing Championship are all cheering and seem to be on the same wavelength (brain coupling).
Micko believes that all of these little things will feed on each other and create a global Love Spiral.
Micko wrote a dissertation on Upward Spirals of positive well-being when studying at Clown College, and thinks that this cumulative process is actually an Upward Spiral that includes upward spirals of individual clowns, classrooms and other groups, organizations, and global network spirals.

Micko learned that cultural evolution is information that can affect individuals’ behavior that they acquire from other clowns through teaching, implicit learning, and other forms of social transmission.
But according to FlowingLove (Daniel Siegel), clown minds can also shape culture, saying that as communication between clowns changes, cultural evolution transforms the context in which young clowns develop and in which adult clowns structure the societies in which we live.
Micko points out that this becomes an ongoing back-and-forth process over many generations: clown culture influences individual clown learning and behavior and in turn clown learning and behavior influence cultural evolution.
FlowingLove says that cultural evolution is a major force shaping how the clown brain has developed in modern times, surpassing genetic aspects of evolution.
FlowingLove suggests that we all become ‘cultural evolutionists’ by creating healthy relationships within our modern societies that involve the honoring of differences between clowns and the cultivation of their connections through compassionate, respectful communication.
In other words, by adopting a MWe integrated identity.
FlowingLove and Micko believe that by adopting a MWe integrated identity we can overcome the I-them and We-them polarities in our world today.
We adult clowns can look at our own beliefs and attitudes about other people with different beliefs and attitudes, such as people from different cultures.
Do we have biases and prejudices? Do we feel we are superior to them? Do we treat them with the respect we want to be treated with?
Micko believes that any such biases we might have are barriers to our Full Love Flow.

In this way, we can help very young clowns and teen clowns become “cultural evolutionists” and become part of the process of making clown culture more Loving and Harmonious.

FlowingLove talks about the potential of adolescent clown brains, suggesting that the power of the adolescent mind has a spark of emotion, social drive, and push to explore new solutions to old ways of doing things, that may save life on our planet.
This is because adolescent clown brains question the status quo, and approach problems with ‘out of the box’ strategies, new ideas, and innovation. This is called divergent thinking.
FlowingLove suggests that adult clowns and adolescent clowns (Micko would include very young clowns) can work together across generations to discover and cultivate the hidden power and purpose of young clown brains- in a cultural rite of passage.
But younger clowns need the support of us old clowns and that working creatively and collaboratively in our families, schools, and communities, the emerging generations will have the vision to move away from just memorizing facts and figures to creating more imaginative and meaningful ways to inspire their generation and future generations.

All clowns can play a role as a cultural evolutionist because every time one of us does something nice or helpful or minimizes negativity in the world we are adding to the balance of Love in the world.
This might not seem that important, but imagine a billion clowns squirting seltzer down another clown’s pants… wouldn’t that shift the balance of Love in our world?

Plus, don’t forget how important role modeling is. As we all go about our lives very young clowns watch and listen and take it all in.
Parents.
Parents have an extremely important role in this evolutionary process because parents have a greater influence on young clowns’ forming their views of their world.
First: role modeling: How much do they show their Love Flow in their daily behavior?
Then, how much do they discuss Love Flow with very young clowns…their Love Flow and the Love Flow of young clowns?
Do they discuss the difference between being nice and being mean? Do they discuss how it feels to be nice or to be mean?
Finally, do they facilitate Love Experiments? For instance, do they create activities in which they can help very young clowns learn about the inner workings of their minds (mindsight), and their Flow of Love (lovesight)?
Or. do they take very young clowns to do volunteer work such as at a senior home or an animal center? Do they talk to them about it, about how they feel afterward?
Do they discuss with very young clowns the World as a whole and their place in their World? Do they discuss the role they could play in making the World a better place? Do they ask how very young clowns feel about this?
Do they help young clowns learn to make up their own minds rather than be influenced by other clowns who say they have all the answers? This is called critical thinking.

Teachers.
Teachers also play an important role because it is their purpose and their job to help very young clowns and adolescent clowns learn about themselves and their World.
Micko thinks that along with teaching academic subjects teachers should help all young clowns understand and guide their Love Flow.
As with all clowns, role modeling is very important, as very young clowns watch and listen to teachers for many hours. If you cut your finger off with the paper cutter do you say some not-so-nice words, or do you calmly say “Oh look, I’ve cut my finger off. I’m sending Loving Kindness to my finger. Maybe I should go to the hospital so they can sew it back on”.
It’s also important to discuss Love Flow with very young clowns. Teachers facilitate classroom discussions all the time…discussions about the history of juggling, the best techniques for throwing pies, etc. They also often have discussions with individual students, such as when the student has difficulty using the nozzle on seltzer bottles.
So why not have discussions about the Flow of Love in each of our lives?
Like parents, teachers can facilitate Love Experiments, by creating activities that help students learn about their Love Flow in real-life situations such as field trips to animal shelters to share their Love with homeless animals.
Teenage clowns and younger clowns.
As FlowingLove (Daniel Siegel)and Micko have explained, teenage clown brains have tremendous potential. Teen brains don’t stop growing until about age 24.
One very important role teenage clowns and younger clowns can play in cultural evolution is helping their parents and other adults understand The Flow of Love. Adult clown brains tend to become rigid and adult clowns tend to become set in their ways. They are not always open to new ideas such as the idea that we can create a world in which all clowns can live in peace and love each other. So it is up to teen clowns to show them the way. Teen clowns and younger clowns can also do many things to add to the natural growth of their brains and minds. For instance, they can do things to increase their personal Love Flow within their bodies, in their relationships with other clowns, and in the World. (links)
Teen clowns and younger clowns can use their emerging brain potential to come up with their own original ideas about Love Flow, and they can create their own love Experiments.
Micko believes this is the ripest area of clown cultural evolution, due to the potential of young clown brains, as FlowingLove has explained.
Over the coming generations, who knows how many brilliant ideas and Love Experiments will emerge as young clowns in every generation accept their role as ‘cultural evolutionists’?
Media.
Clowns involved in mainstream media as well as social media can also play a role in clown cultural evolution. Clowns love media. Some believe that too many clowns are addicted to media…sitting on the couch drinking seltzer and eating potato chips or hunched over their phones and other devices clicking away.
Why not cover the spread of Love Flow in the world? You never know, maybe one or two clowns would actually look inside at their own Love Flow! This is called Lovesight. (link to Lovesight)
Researchers.
Clown researchers can also play an important role. There may be some clowns who refuse to believe that Micko might be right…Nay-sayers who will point to all the bad things clowns have done in the past and say that clowns will never change.
Although it’s pretty obvious that clowns do change and learn new ways of being in the world, we need clown researchers to research The Flow of Love to see if Micko is right. Do clowns who buy into the idea of Love Flow and try some Love Experiments experience positive changes in their lives? Do very young clowns and teen clowns experience positive changes in their lives as a result of doing Love Experiments? And importanty, what is the true role of ice cream in clown evolution? Clown researchers can find the answers to these questions.

Some of you clowns may be thinking that there are just too many problems to solve.
Or, maybe you are tired of Micko’s Pollyanna ideas.
Well, Micko has some answers for you.
First of all, solving problems offers great growth opportunities for adult clowns and especially for very young clowns and teen clowns.
Adult clowns:
Even adult clowns, despite their inferior brain potential, can use the abilities they have to help solve problems.
In fact, it’s becoming well known that when adults use their brains they actually prevent further brain detioration!
Very young clowns:
Educators suggest parents help very young clowns before they go to school. Parents can work with very young clowns to solve real-life problems such as spilt milk, by saying “What can we do to fix this”. Even before a very young clown fully understands what the parent is saying there will be implicit learning going on in the young brain and mind.
Suggested steps in this process are:
1. Identify the problem
2. Brainstorm possible solutions
3. Identify pros and cons of each possible solution
4. Pick a solution
5. Test the solution
6. Analyze the results
Educators say that learning problem-solving skills results in happier, more confident, more creative, and more independent clowns.
In classroom settings and other group settings, young clowns can learn to work with other clowns to solve problems, thus learning to work with other clowns and to communicate effectively.
Educators say that this empowers young clowns to become engaged global citizens. FlowingLove (Daniel Siegel) would say that learning problem-solving skills empowers young clowns to become cultural evolutionists (links).

If we clowns collectively decided to adopt an integrative identity (MWe), it would be a brand new thing in the clown universe, because each of us will keep our personal thinking, beliefs, values, creativity, etc., while working together to creat a World of love.
And this would allow us to create our Love Spiral because it would eliminate the biggest barrier to the flow of Love: we/them thinking, behavior, and emotions.
Micko says emergence is the process in which things in nature get so complex that they turn into something brand new. Something new “emerges” that includes the things that were there before but now beooming something larger and more complex, with new laws.
The clown HyperLove (Laszlo) describes a building process in nature in which cycles interlock to form hypercycles that in turn allow two or more systems to jointly create a supra system on the next higher level, which sets up further evolution. HyperLove calls this building process convergence.

Adding Love to the World Love Flow.

QuantumLove (Lynne McTaggart says our universe is a unified whole and that we should take charge of our own destiny by joining together in our common purpose. QuantumLove suggests we form communities of Loving clowns across our planet that would ultimately create a type of superorganism.
QuantumLove says that once we replace competitive polarities clowns begin to flourish as we create a larger, all-embracing identity, a bigger definition of who “we” are (MWe).
Micko has recently read about “swarm intelligence”, which has been described as the collective behavior of self-organized systems. Examples from nature include flocks of birds, colonies of ants, schools of fish, and bee colonies.
What is common in swarm intelligence is that a group of individual critters can communicate in a way that results in behavior and accomplishments that the individual critters could not do on their own. Clown scientists believe that very simple rules in the behavior of the critters account for the working together of the group.
It’s been suggested that clowns didn’t evolve the ability to swarm because we lack the innate connections that other species use to establish feedback loops among individual members. For instance, ants use chemical traces, fish detect vibrations in the water around them, bees use high-speed gestures, and birds detect motions within the flock.
Also, clown evolution evolved in a way in which clown individuals became more independent, more intelligent, and more autonomous.
But Micko points out that clowns can make decisions together and communicate with each other, so clowns could choose to create connections that would allow a new form of swarm intelligence.
We clowns could decide to work together for a better world within a loose confederation of separate individuals and clown troups.
We clowns could decide to balance our self-assertive tendencies and our integrative tendencies by adopting a truly integrated identity as FlowingLove, LoveBlossoms, and Hoolahoop have suggested.
And, unlike examples of ants and fish and birds and bees, in which the individuals don’t really take part in the decisions-they are programmed to play their roles- clowns could retain their individual goals, values, ideas, thinking, and creativity and integrate those individual qualities within our new integrated identity (MWe).

OmegaLove (Teilhard de Chardin) believed that evolution is an ascent towards consciousness and that it therefore it should culminate in some sort of supreme consciousness, which he called Omega Point. And he referred to this process as a spiral that is ascending to higher and higher levels.
Love plays a major role in this view of clown potential. OmegaLove stated that Love alone can unite living beings in such a way as to complete and fulfill them because only Love can join them by what is deepest in themselves.
OmegaLove points out that clowns in Love can become lost in each other, and asks if that can happen on a small scale with a few clowns, why shouldn’t it be possible on a worldwide dimension?
OmegaLove suggests that such a universal love is not only psychologically possible; it is the only complete and final way in which we are able to love.
Micko created Clownsforpeace.org so that like-minded clowns can have a place to work together with other clowns who want to help create a World of Love and to find their personal role in this process.
This will be our “swarm intelligence” or our “swarm behavior”.
You don’t have to join in any official way, all you have to do is find your role. Micko believes each of us will experience greater outcomes if we engage with each other, but after all, Micko is just another bumbling clown, and maybe is wrong again.
But there are some significant barriers in our way as we work toward a World of Love. Maybe the biggest obstacle is We-Them thinking and behavior.
Individual identity.
All of us clowns have our own personal identity, Micko is Micko, FlowingLove is FlowingLove, LoveBlosoms is LoveBlossoms, etc.
And you are you. You have your own personal identity.
Group identity.
And most clowns also have some sort of “social identity”…some social grouping that we identify with, feel close to, or are part of…such as our family, our troupe, our juggling team, or our species. For instance, Micko thinks most clowns identify with the social group “clowns”, but not with kangaroos.
Positives of group identity.
Group identity is a good thing. In groups, we have feelings of closeness with others, we give and receive support, and we experience solidarity and camaraderie.
Negatives of group identity.
But there is a downside to group identity. Sometimes conflicts emerge between different groups. This can lead to feelings of animosity and anger. fear, distrust. prejudice, hate, and sometimes violence.
Micko believes that these conflicts are the single biggest barrier to creating a world of Love.
Integrative Identity.
FlowingLove (Daniel Siegel) says it is extremely important to our clown evolution to integrate our individual identity (Me) and our group identity (We), by conceiving ourselves as MWe.
FlowingLove says the more we help others, the healthier and happier we ourselves become.
Furthermore, Flowing Love suggests that our individual needs for meaning and belonging and feeling happy and fulfilled can actually be satisfied by expanding the way we define ourselves–which creates a win-win situation. Thus, developing a MWe identity will make us happier, and it will give our world a good chance to also become healthier.
Micko agrees with FlowingLove that our world’s challenges can most effectively be addressed by helping expand our sense of identity beyond a separate self.
LoveBlossoms (Barbara Fredrickson) says that once clowns forge connections with others (shared positivity resonance) the clowns can view one another as part of a unified whole—a single ‘us’ rather than two separate me’s.
QuantumLove (Lynne McTaggart) suggests that once clowns stop competitive aggression between social groupings, clowns will flourish and create a larger, all-embracing identity, a bigger definition of who “we” are.
And let’s not forget that many years ago BeingLove (Abraham Maslow) talked about the importance of synergy between individual clowns and larger social groupings.
Micko believes that by adopting a MWe integrated identity we can overcome We-Them thinking and help clown evolution move forward to a world of Love and Harmony.

Micko wrote his dissertation on Upward Spirals of Positive Well-being while getting his degree at Clown College.
It took him so long to finish that they kicked him out of the program for lack of progress. Micko is a slow processer as you may have figured out by now.
Luckily, Micko’s adviser, LonganimousLove (Larry Ryan), had faith in Micko and helped with the appeal.
Micko finally figured it out, mostly.
As you know, sometimes events lead to other events.
When undesirable events lead to more undesirable events, which then lead to more undesirable events, this is a downward spiral.
When desirable events lead to more desirable events, which then lead to more desirable events, this is an upward spiral.
These events can happen within a clown’s body or mind, between clowns, within or between troupes of clowns, within or between organizations, or within or between clown cultures.

Micko says the cool thing about upward spirals is that clowns can do things to start an upward spiral.
That is what this website is all about. There are already many clowns in Clown Nation doing good things, and in many of these cases there are little spirals growing.
Micko envisions more little spirals as more people engage on the site, and gradually little spirals will merge with other little spirals, creating larger spirals, etc.
This process will be like starting a campfire: start with paper and twigs to start a little fire, and then add larger pieces of wood as the little fire grows.
Of course, with a fire, we don’t want it to grow and grow, but with our Love Spiral, we do want it to grow and grow and grow.

Earlier we learned the basic information about upward spirals. Now we will learn about the actual spiral dynamics that Micko expects to happen over future generaations.
Personal spirals
Self-LOve

So, there you have it…Micko’s vision of the future of clown evolution.

The future of Clown Nation depends on what each clown does now and over coming generations.
Micko has studied clown potential, and although sometimes it seems complicated, it finally comes down to one rule for each of us: increase connection and positivity and decrease conflict and negativity.
We increase connection and positivity by increasing our Self-Love, our Other-Love, and our World-Love. ,
We decrease conflict and negativity by stopping judgments and and by embracing an all-encompassing social identity: MWe.
Each little step each of us takes will be adding Love to the World Love Flow.
As more of us join the Movement we will gradually be creating a living, evolving “superorganism”, in the same way that thousands of distinct singe-celled units of slime mold, each moving separately,
coalesce into a single, larger organism.
“They” becomes an “it”, or”MWe”.
Each of us, by increasing positivity, connection, and Love Flow in our own lives, will literally be helping guide our new “superorganism”!
Micko has suggested that each of us try Love Experiments of our own. Micko believes that this process in which each of us adds Love to the World will actually be a Global Love Experiment…to see if it really is possible to create a World of Love.
