Positive self-talk, or positive affirmations, has been around for a long time. Micko does this all the time, because Micko does so many dumb things.

Positive self-talk can overcome negative self-talk, with realistic beliefs about positive outcomes you want in your life, for instance, decreased negative emotions and increased positive emotions. See dispute negative thinking for more about this.

Positive self-talk also leads to many health benefits such as living longer, boosted immune system, magnifying serotonin, dopamine, and endorphins in your body,  increased vitality, greater life satisfaction, reduced pain, better cardiovascular health, better physical well-being, and less stress. 

With practice, positive self-talk leads to new habits and also new neural pathways in your brain. In effect, you can retrain your brain!

Eventually, your new automatic ways of thinking about yourself will become automatic, in the same way that your old negative self-talk was automatic!

Instead of ANTS (automatic negative thoughts) you will have APTS (automatic positive thoughts)!

This is also a good way to cultivate optimism.
