Since 2005, Google has committed to donating US$1bn to nonprofit organisations in addition to dedicating one million hours of employee volunteering. In order to maintain the latter pledge, Google offers paid leaves for volunteer work.
In 2012, Google also pledged to source only conflict-free minerals. In 2017, Google also achieved 100% renewable energy by buying only electricity produced from renewable power.
