Micko’s plan based on swarm behavior in nature.Â
What is cool about swarm behavior is that a group of individual critters such as ants, termites, fish, and birds. can communicate in a way that results in group behavior and accomplishments that the individual critters could not do on their own. Clown scientists believe that very simple rules in the behavior of the critters account for the working together of the group.
It is not thought that the individual critters are planning these collective actions; rather that they are programmed to do these actions.o
Clown swarm
Micko says that we can choose to create our own Clown Swarm that wouldn’t be preprogrammed.
Our swarm would be synergistic: individual clowns would become happier and more satisfied with their lives while working with other clowns to create a better world, and Clown Nation would also get better as it created social stuff to allow individuals to flourish.
Like swarm behavior in nature, our swarm would have rules, but we would create these rules:Â
In this way we could develop our own form of swarm intelligence.
What do you think so far?
Micko’s plan is a form of Action Research, in which clowns work together focusing on solving problems in the real world and creating positive change.Â
All participants are actively involved as co-researchers in the entire process, rather than being just research subjects.
Are you interested in being a co-researcher in this research project?
According Micko, Upward Spirals are the engine that drives the evolution of Love Flow. LoveBlossoms (Barbara Fredrickson) has written about and researched upward spirals and in fact was the most significant influence in Micko’s doing his dissertation on Upward spirals of positive well-being when in Clown College (https://www.proquest.com/openview/c25bb0af454c36ace923d8ebbfaf658d/1?pq-origsite=gscholar&cbl=18750&diss=y).
Micko believes that all spirals in Clown experience are based on one simple dynamic: reciprocal causation, For instance, one clown helps out another clown. The helper is likely to feel positive emotions due to helping the other clown, and the clown helped is also likely to feel positive emotions like gratitude. The helper is then likely to feel more positive emotions due to the expression of gratitude by the other clown.
Furthermore, as LoveBossoms [ points out, a witness could feel uplifting emotions while watching.
But Micko believes there are more complex spirals that can happen in clown experience: spirals in small groups like families, classrooms, and work groups, spirals in organizations, and spirals in networks,
The largest and most powerful spirals Micko envisions are a Swarm spiral, a global spiral, and a generational spiral.
To check out these spirals go here.
Micko believes that the key to creating a World of Love over future generations is how we help young clowns to understand their Love Flow and to see that they can be part of creating a World of Love.
We can present to young clowns the four rules of creating our Clown Swarm.
We can help young clowns understand that they can make up their own minds about all this stuff.
Over time, young clowns will internalize what they choose to accept and this will become part of their growth process.
Micko believes young clowns will choose to buy in to the notion of creating a Clown Swarm, and in that process they will transform clown culture.
If you are a parent or teacher or young clown caregiver you can play the most important role in this process!
